330 kV EHV Transformer Core | Project Case Study

  • Chenfan Power

Project reference PRJ-01. Chenfan Electric manufactured an assembled three-phase transformer core for a 330 kV-class EHV transformer project. The core was built to the customer’s approved drawing using high-permeability CRGO and multi-step-lap joints. The customer is not identified because the project drawing and commercial details are confidential.

Application and project context

The application was an extra-high-voltage power transformer in the 330 kV class. That voltage describes the transformer project, not an electrical rating independently assigned to the core. The manufacturing reference records the core’s structure, material family, joint design and supply format; it does not publish the customer’s drawing, transformer MVA rating or destination.

Core type and material

The core is a three-phase assembled design with multi-step-lap joints. Its laminations used high-permeability cold-rolled grain-oriented electrical steel (CRGO). The specific steel grade, thickness and magnetic-loss target are project data and are not disclosed in the published reference.

Manufacturing scope

Before cutting, the project team reviewed the lamination plan, step-lap arrangement, clamping interfaces and lifting provisions against the approved customer drawing. The documented supply format was an assembled core, rather than loose laminations or pre-stacked packets. These planning steps matter because joint geometry and interfaces must remain consistent through cutting, stacking and assembly. See the related step-lap processing and core assembly pages for the general production methods.

Handling controls

The project record states that the assembly sequence, temporary bracing, lifting points and transport restraint were planned before the core left the workshop floor. It does not specify the lifting equipment or transport arrangement, so those details are not assumed here.

Inspection and records

Chenfan’s published quality workflow describes material identification, dimensional checks and assembly review for transformer-core orders. The public PRJ-01 reference contains no signed inspection report, measured burr height, stacking factor or magnetic test result. This case study therefore makes no numerical acceptance or in-service performance claim.

Packaging and delivery

Transport restraint was considered during project planning. The available reference does not identify the final packaging specification, dispatch date or delivery destination. Those items remain outside this public case record.

Documented result

The documented result is an assembled three-phase core completed and photographed in the workshop for a 330 kV-class transformer project. Customer acceptance, installation, energization and operating losses have not been published for this reference. The shorter entry appears in the project register; the power transformer cores page explains the wider supply formats. For independent preliminary estimates using your own design inputs, see the transformer core calculator; it does not show PRJ-01 project data or acceptance results.
